So recently I reached the grand old age of 53, how does that happen? I still feel 30...except first thing in the morning, last thing at night...and most of the day, but many of you know what I mean. The body starts to give out, but the brain? Anyway it has be a most busy few weeks, not long back from an event in Wales were we rocked the tourists with the FKoR show, new and improved and definitely the best yet. Also viewed for the first time by some of our Western martial art peers...they thought it was fantastic so that made me happy.

Last weekend FKoR hosted a training weekend attended by folk from as far away as Malta. Two days of archery, horse riding and of course swordplay. Could explain why I am feeling every day of my 53 years.

Its going to be a lean winter again as the financial state here has cut back my earnings by 70% oh well at least I have my health...well don't have that either but if they ever find a way of eating a sense of humour I'm laughing  B' bom crash

So the latest email for work with Extras NI on GOT has just turned up, now you have to be based in Northern Ireland and have a UK National insurance number to get work on it...
It has always been hard for those of us in the south to get work on this because of the low wages being paid by Extras NI and the cost of travel and accommodation. Now we are excluded completely...

Oh and I have been unable to upload pictures to LJ for weeks now, what the hell? Not been the same since they moved it to Russia.

Today I am sad.

Yesterday we had to put Lucy cat, our silver Bengal to sleep. The world is a little less beautiful for her passing.
She was the most handsome cat I have ever seen, with the largest eyes. Not perfect in other ways of course, she was after all...a cat.

So today I am sad.

More film news

Greetings flist

Well no one commented on my last post so lets try this for size. I have been offered the role of second lead in a production of Sangrai (the story of the Arthurian knight Percival) A short feature being produced by my friends at October Eleven Pictures.

Little did I know less than a year ago, that the small favor I did for them would lead to so many exiting projects.

So darlings, have your people call my people and I'll see if I have a window...but don't hold your breath I'm a hot property right now :-D

Hey peeps

Greetings flist,

Well it has been a while. much water has flowed under our bridges. KoR has been busy. From hobnobbing with Sir Peter, head of one of the twelve noble families of Malta and a genuine knight of st John. To taking calls from film producers and discussing how our latest project is causing excitement  in a certain Oscar winner!

In between, visits to the set of Game of Thrones and drinks with GRRM on a warm autumn night in Mdina.

I have played Brian Bru and Jarl Sigurd leaders of the Irish and the Viking armies during the battle of Clontarf in two different film shoots.

I have put together the combat team to perform the fight scenes in a teaser trailer for a movie about Vlad the Impaler. I trained the Principle actor, choreographed his fights, and partnered him on set. I have the Director on speed dial and he rang me first with the news of the Oscar winners interest (even before his brother the Producer LOL)

The Production Company is October Eleven Pictures. A very talented team. The Director Jason Figgis is just the best I have worked with...well the first I have worked with. His brother Jonny, is the Producer and we get on like a house on fire. He will be coming up to see me for sword training.

So I am now working on the pre pre production of a major Hollywood movie!...Have I made any money yet? well a little, enough to just keep the wolf from the door. But, I'm looking at some LOL

Strangely Facebook has become my office, there I am contacting western martial arts groups, stunt teams and other useful contacts. Collecting C.V's from the best film experienced swordsmen I know, from Italy to Malta, Ireland to Turkey.

Oh and as a little aside I am being sent a script by Jason for a short feature about Percival and his hunt for the holy grail. More of the same for that :-)

So darlings *air kisses* "we must do lunch"

My team now known by the collective name of Blood Sweat and Beards.

Swords and film

Greetings flist,

Well your Knight about town is off to Nottingham this weekend. Why? To train with the team that actually get paid properly to use their skills for film work "Combat International" They will be working on the GRRM series and one or two other projects in the pipeline too. With a bit of luck this will bring in some much needed cash over the next few months while I work on the other project I hinted at in one of my past posts.

Still cant tell you about that as while the ground work has been laid, it still isn't certain yet. But so far so good.

I'm having to buy a new tournament sword, as mine was stolen in Malta...Looking at Mark at   Looks like he does lovely work and his tournament swords are well balanced and hard wearing.

So I hope I find you well, and looking forward to a great summer and I'll tell you how the trip goes on my return.
